OpenAI unveiled ChatGPT-3 to solicit user feedback and to gain insights about its strong points and limitations. During this research preview period, access to ChatGPT was offered at no cost. The chatbot was based on GPT-3 model (which for now is already deprecated).

December 15, 2022

The ChatGPT team is excited to announce several updates for their users. Here is a quick overview of what’s new:

  • Better performance: Among a range of improvements, ChatGPT is now less likely to refuse to answer questions.
  • Record of interactions: Users will soon gain the capability to revisit their past interactions with ChatGPT, rename their saved conversations, and eliminate any they no longer want.
  • Usage limit per day: To ensure a superior experience for all users, a daily message limit is being piloted. Users impacted by this change can extend their access by providing feedback on ChatGPT.

With this update, users can now identify the version of ChatGPT they are using, displayed at the screen’s bottom.

The Plus plan offers early access to pioneering features. Plus users now have the option to select from various ChatGPT versions:

  1. Default: the standard ChatGPT model
  2. Turbo: engineered for speed (alpha)

A convenient dropdown menu at the page’s top simplifies the version selection process. Based on user feedback, this feature (or just the Turbo version) is expected to be expanded to all users.

Intriguing updates have been implemented for ChatGPT. Here’s a rundown:

  • The performance of the ChatGPT model on the free plan has been boosted to cater to more users.
  • Following user suggestions, Plus users will now by default have access to a speedier version of ChatGPT, previously labeled as “Turbo.”
  • ChatGPT Plus is now available for purchase by users globally (see ChatGPT Countries List  fro reference).

The team is excited to present GPT-4, the most recent model, to ChatGPT Plus subscribers.

GPT-4 boasts improvements in: 

  • Advanced reasoning 
  • Complex instructions 
  • Enhanced creativity 

To ensure all Plus subscribers can experience the model, the cap for GPT-4 usage adjusted dynamically based on demand. 

There were no updates for free accounts in this release.

The Team introduced experimental support for AI plugins in ChatGPT. These tools are tailor-made for language models. The plugins empower ChatGPT to access up-to-date information, carry out computations, or leverage third-party services.

The initial suite of plugins includes:

  • Browsing: A pilot model designed for proper internet browsing
  • Code Interpreter: An experimental ChatGPT model equipped to handle Python as well as manage uploads and downloads
  • Third-party plugins: A trial model that understands when and how to utilize external plugins.

ChatGPT has received a slew of updates! Here’s the rundown of what has changed:

  • Now, you have the option to disable chat history and export your data from the ChatGPT settings. When chat history is turned off, the ensuing conversations won’t be utilized to train or enhance our models and won’t be displayed in the history sidebar.
  • OpenAI phasing out the Legacy (GPT-3.5) model as of May 10th. Users will retain the ability to carry on their existing dialogues with this model, but all new messages will employ the default model.
